The Old Spud Warehouse lives in a circa 1900 former farmers co-op building used by local potato growers as a railroad shipping point to get their harvests to market.
The bones of the building have been maintained, with the slatted walls that promoted circulation to prevent rotting still in tact. The metal walled engine repair room and the 12 foot high basement (because potatoes crush under their own weight at 11 feet) are now used for shopping.
It is the contents that have undergone the major transformation. In this unique setting, The Old Spud Warehouse offers the out-of-the-ordinary in a wide range of products from the (in our humble opinion) best of furniture, lighting, home decor and personal items along with the always surprising and unusual one-of-a-kind items.
Opened in May of 1997, Spuds has become a Northern Michigan destination for those who are weary of seeing the same things wherever they go.
We pride ourselves on the fun and unusual in all areas of the 7000 square foot shopping area. With new things arriving daily, it is a different store every week.
We would love to have you pay us a visit, and be cautious of the uneven floors!
We added the Bearded Dogg Lounge in 2010 to carry the out-of-the-ordinary experience to food & drink!
